FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

5 NM positioning over 50 mm

Huntsville, AL, 10 December, 2008--The PZ line of precision translation stages from DIVA Automation offers nanometric positioning for applications such as high magnification optical and electron microscopes (SEM). Motion stages are available in five standard ranges from PZ-3.5 (3.5 mm) to the PZ-48 (48 mm) with custom designs available. In open loop mode, manual controls can achieve < 5 nanometer positioning. In closed loop control mode, resolutions from 5 to 100 nm are standard. Velocities up to 5 mm/sec are provided with high speed settling to within one encoder count. Multiple stages can be assembled for XY or XYZ applications. Vacuum preparation is an available option. The DC-PZ adapter allows positioning and velocity control by standard servo controls or wide dynamic range joystick manual control. Input can be either analog, PWM or through communications interface. Position display based on an optional encoder interface is available.

DIVA Automation unbundles SuprMotrTM motion control components.

A la carte approach reduces cost of full-featured intelligent servo controls.

Florence, AL, 4 July, 2005 ---- Recognizing that the cost of complete servo controllers is prohibitive in many OEM applications, DIVA Automation is now offering for sale the individual components of its popular servo controllers. Machinery manufacturers will be able to reduce the production cost of their stored program intelligent servo control electronics to less than $50. Adding a motor driver can be as cheap as $2, dependent on motor size. Users may purchase any combination of individual components. Some may prefer to purchase only the pre-programmed microcontroller.

Schematics and manufacturing data are included, as are software drivers and virtual control panel programs. All support components are standard and are available from several distributors. Others may prefer to purchase the complete manufacturing parts kit from DIVA Automation, including a printed circuit board. Fully assembled and tested controllers produced to ISO900x standards are available as well, in any quantity.

The SuprMotrTM family of servo controllers uses a programmable microcontroller to provide an easy to use interface through USB or RS-232. The addition of permenently stored programs and parameter setups, macro commands, limit and reference switches, differential encoder inputs, uncommitted discrete inputs and outputs, permanent storage of servo parameters and a built-in interpreter with over 100 commands make the SuprMotr products a very versatile controller family.

Operation may be completely stand-alone, utilizing local switches and displays, or may be controlled from an automatically executed stored program or from a host processor. Motor power is controlled by PWM magnitude and direction signals, allowing the use of on board drivers for motors of 125W or less. Larger motors will require external PWM drivers available from various sources.

The DA1010TM is supplied as an 80-pin quad flat pack and requires the addition of as little as a PLD, a motor driver chip and RS-232 buffer to implement a fully featured stored program servo controller. Additional system elements such as EEPROM storage and position displays are supported by the firmware, but not required. Up to 32 controllers may be utilize a single high speed serial channel, with individual addressing.

Single-unit pricing of the DA1010 is $59.95. Typical quantity pricing discounts apply.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

DIVA Automation announces release of 8/8/8/8-channel DAQ board.

Symmetrical channels reduce board count in PC-based DSP applications.

Florence, AL, 4 July, 2000 ---- The DAQ-1212TM from DIVA Automation combines equal numbers of A/D and D/A circuits on a single plug-in board to enable multi-channel PC-based DSP operations. Eight, 12-bit inputs are complemented by eight, 12-bit outputs to form the analog I/O portion of a high performance data processing system. The 16-bit ISA board also has eight channels, each, for digital Input/Output functions. Two versions are offered: the DAQ-1212CTM includes programmable gain and filtering functions, with 100 KHz throughput, while the DAQ-1212DTM is designed for speed with 500 KHz throughput and fixed gains. Availability is stock to 10 weeks. Single-unit pricing is $795 (-C) or $495 (-D), with attractive quantity discounts. This product can be ported to the PCI bus for OEM applications.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

DIVA Automation announces complete multi-axis servo controller with integrated drivers.

Fully integrated PC-bus servo controller requires no additional components for control of three DC motors.

Florence, AL, 4 July, 2000 ---- The C-300TM from DIVA Automation combines three independent circuits for servo control of DC motors on a single ISA bus plug-in board. It utilizes National Semiconductor LM629 servo control processors for each channel, with on-board LMD18200 drivers. Two speed grades are available--6 MHz and 8 MHz, for maximum loop update rates of 333 or 250 microseconds. Eight digital inputs and five digital outputs are included, in addition to limit switch and reference switch inputs for each channel. Interactive and stored program control of the ISA-bus board are provided by supplied system software. Availability is stock to 10 weeks.

Single-unit pricing is set at $495 and $695 for the 6 and 8 MHz versions. One and two-channel versions are also available at reduced cost, as are versions without the on-board drivers. This product can be ported to the PCI bus for OEM applications.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

DIVA Automation delivers industry-first 1024-axis motor controller

Stepper motors replace electro-mechanical assembly and reduce cost.

Florence, AL, 10 April, 2001 ---- The first known instance of a 1024-axis motor controller has been delivered to Modern Techniques, Inc., of Ringgold, GA, for use in a scroll pattern carpet machine. Over one thousand stepper motors will replace the traditional electro-mechanical assemblies that select between pile heights. In addition to reducing assembly costs and time, the motors add the capability of specifying any pile height for any needle across the width of a 4-meter-wide carpet, with unlimited length. The motors are also expected to reduce maintenance costs, in comparison with the much greater number of components each motor replaces.

Key to the economic feasibility of such an advance is the distributed control concept implemented by DIVA Automation. A PC-resident system controller communicates with four sets of 16 distributed microcontrollers. Each distributed controller stores pattern information in the form of speed selections for 16 motors, and updates the speed of each motor 1000-2000 times per second. Drivers for the motors are mounted in sets of 8 on a driver board. Two such boards are controlled by each distributed controller. The total surface area of the controller/driver set is approximately equal to the Size 17 motor footprint.

Each motor supplies one thread of yarn to the array of 1024 needles on a tenth-inch grid. By varying the speed, the length of yarn supplied for each stitch can be controlled, resulting in either monocolor yarn height sculpturing or multicolor patterns. As the main motor raises and lowers the needles through the carpet backing, the position of the needle is sensed by the system controller, which updates the speed selection tables for each motor up to 1000 times per second.

The technology applied in this application is readily transferrable to many applications.
